Transition Town Letchworth are a local group of volunteers who are working to build a more sustainable Letchworth.

We want today’s Letchworth to be a pioneer in tackling the biggest challenges that are facing us: climate change, economic resilience and future energy supply. If we want the quality of life we enjoy to be maintained for future generations, we have to develop better ways to live. By changing some of our habits and working together on community initiatives we believe we can transition to a more sustainable, satisfying and happier way of life.  We welcome new members and this website provides information on our events and activities where you can get involved.

TTL Trustees have used our time in lockdown to reflect on where the organisation should focus its efforts going forward. We have decided that we should rebalance our volunteering time more towards delivering climate repair projects. These are practical activities by and for the local community to reduce climate-changing emissions. If you are interested in helping to deliver local climate repair projects, then, we would like you to help us decide which projects to deliver by completing our online survey ‘Where Next For TTL?‘.

Transition Tuesday is our monthly meeting, held on the second Tuesday of the month. We sometimes have a speaker, a film or a workshop on an aspect of life which could benefit from a Transition perspective. Previous meeting topics have included calculating your carbon footprint, going plastic free, green holiday inspiration, altering and swapping clothes, food preservation, how to build a local sustainable economy. Everyone is welcome – just turn up.  We meet upstairs in Mrs Howard Hall. Refreshments are available from 7.30pm, with the event starting at 7.45pm. Admission is free, but a suggested donation of £2 helps to cover our costs.

The TTL calendar shows activities planned for the coming months. If you’d like email updates then please sign up for our bulletin on the contact page.
